Triumph Motorcycles pension scheme

#1 Post by RJF_70 »

Hi, My father who is 82 used to work for Triumph motorcycles in Meriden in Coventry for a big part of his working life until the plant closed in 1983 I think. He was paying into a works pension for all of his time there but has never received any correspondence or information as to who took over the pension pot etc! It only cropped up in conversation today as he is in ill health in as far as he needs a hip operation but NHS wont do it because of his age and the fact that he had a stroke a couple of years back although he recovered 99% luckily. I just suggested that it was a shame that he didnt pay into health care or a pension whilst at Triumph and he said he did but had never drawn on it or chased it up. He has moved twice since leaving Triumph so that may be another factor why he hadn't heard anything. How would I go about finding out who was / is in charge of the said fund?
Just thought it may be worth an ask!!
Any info much appreciated
Rich..

I've got a feeling there's a central agency that might be able to tell your Dad what happened to his pension. The Pensions Regulator might be able to help.

My wife is a pensions specialist who deals with this type of thing all the time.

I'll ask her her opinion and get back to you asap. :)
Come and see some pretty shoddy, slow driving of a really well prepared competition Sprint here!
