Re: Russet brown Dolomite 1300 OVX499V 53000miles
You will need to change the needle in your carb for a richer one if you fit a K&N style air filter because of the extra airflow. Also, you will have warm air coming in (once it is up to temperature) but I don't know if that would be an issue. The twin carb upgrade could be an option but you would need the Dolomite 1500 exhaust which has a slightly larger bore than the Dolly 1300. It is possible to sleeve the downpipe so that it would mate with the rest of the Dolly 1300 exhaust.

Re: Russet brown Dolomite 1300 OVX499V 53000miles
I put twin carbs off a 1500HL or spit on mine. I was forced to do this when I couldnt get a replacement for the 1300 downpipe.
Went quite well...

Have a really good look at the bore in a bright light. See if you can see any small pits that you could hone out with
1200 grit. Also have a close look at the failed seal.
Should tell you if you need a new one or not....worth a try though I agree...

Re: Russet brown Dolomite 1300 OVX499V 53000miles
The pits will be it then...
Should have said I use a pressure bleeder (gunsons easibleed) or sucker on mine so you dont have to move the pedal.
Its the pedal travel that wears the seals....I've often had master seals let go on a brake system after bleeding the usual way.
I started using a vaccuum sucker recently made myself from an old battery hydrometer with a squeezy bulb. Works a treat single handed and no need to pump the pedal at all...so minimal wear on the seals.
