Hi all,
For the life of me, I can't get the rear bench seat to fit properly. Is there a knack? I've wedged it in and tried to put as much (violent) weight on it hoping it will just click into place or something but it just sits there..
Where the (drive shaft?) lives there is a lip where the the bench seems to want to fit. The bench has an arch in the middle but this just sits on top of the car frame. I can't get the seat back enough to get the arch insite the lip. (Hope that all made sense?)
So if anyone knows how the back seat bench actually 'fits' and not just 'rests' in situ do please tell me because it's driving me nuts.
Many thanks.

Re: Can't fit Rear bench properly
Mine was like this when I got it and drove me mad for a bit. I was under the impression it needed to be bolted in (somebody please tell me that's not what has to happen
), but a bit of brute force and it was home and that's where it's staying..lol. Tried all sorts, putting weight on it, grandkids on it but literally I was that annoyed with it, it just shoved home. Think the key was to make sure the bench seat is pushed under the backrest as far as it goes then hopefully it will just squeeze home. Then I just sat on it for a while to reflect on how flippin easy it should of been..lol

I had the same problem and from memory I pushed the front edge into place first, then forced the rear edge down past the rear cushion. It was impossible to first push the seat far enough back for the front edge to drop into place.
Hope that helps.

There's a knack to it!
Get the back in under the seat back. About 1/3 from each end you'll see a wire bar bent slightly below the rest of the seat. Give the seat section there a thwack with the lower palm of your hand and it should pop in. Repeat for the other side.

Re: Can't fit Rear bench properly
Howard is correct, it is just the two underhanging bits of wire that spring it into place behind the strengthening rib across the floor; insert the back under the backrest first and then just push the vicinity of the wires backwards and downwards.
