Yesterday was a good day. Finished putting the new brake pipes on the toledo, set the rear drums on the sprint axle (I have drilled a nice access hole in the drum so easy to flick the adjuster over manually), adjusted the cable to get the compensator level, and just a little free play so handbrake is excellent. New set of asbestos pads at teh front, 10 mins later all bled with a nice firm pedal and no leaks.
Released the manifold to downpipe join, wiggled it about and retightened. Started and teh blow there has gone.
Put the wheels back on, lowered the car to the drive, and took it for a spin around my "private test track"
No tunnel or dash at the moment, but all seems to work. Only up to 30mph, but gears select OK and no whines or clonks from the box or diff (big relief, the box is unused for maybe 20 years, but the axle came from the back of a friends garage with no history at all) Only issue seems to be a few drops of oil out of the bellhousing, either bos front seal or engine rear a bit weepy. Need to think about that now I reckon.
Just a dash to remake and set up, tunnel to fit and an MoT I reckon. Well, a few other bits and bobs, but all looking hopeful. A "basic" respray will happen in the autumn, that can wait a while. The car is not pretty, and unless I throw £2k+ at it won't be. So a couple of good doors, maybe the FG wings I have and a bit of sheet steel with a bit of fibreglass here and there to tidy non-structural areas (eg bootlid!) as it is not porous like normal filler, and I can't justify the time required to weld it up to a decent standard. A good dose of dinitrol will keep the tinworm at bay I hope.
Will post a few pics once it stops raining...........

Re: It lives!
We all need days like that to spur projects on. Good luck with the rest of it, you are nearly there.
