petrol tank
hi is the petrol tank the same from a dolly or toledo for a 1300 fwd my 1300 fwd tank gone so after a tank wot will fit i have spent hours and hours on it lots of money on it since i got it last year even sprayed it myself but it still keeps breaking down on me now its the tank the car was layed up from 1992 till last august when i saved it from the scrapman i have striped it all down over the winter but evey time i take it out something gos wrong i am now ready to give up on her now i have had moggys for years and not had this much grief can anyone help finding a good tank and after fitting if it breaks down again i will let it go and buy another moggy thanks dave

The Dolomite tank is different to the Toledo/1300fwd because the boot is bigger. What is your tank like inside? If you're lucky it might just need a clean.

If your tank has a leak you can get a patch repair manufactured by Plastic Padding called leak repair.It is sold by Halfords, and touch wood it is standing up to the modern fuel's. I also have used a kit that I got from the local motor spares shop manufactured by Granville but that did not last long.

hi guys thanks for infor tank is holed lots of pinholes have used tank repair stuff but didnt last long dose toledo fit can the dolomite made to fit as can only pick up sec hand dolly tank will cost to much to fix mine i have silly prices to get fixed

Sorry but a perforated tank is just too dangerous to put patches on in my opinion.
After such a long layoff almost all cars will not be reliable I fear.

Had your Morris been in storage?
My experience is that, if the car has been in storage for some time everything will need looking at. Electrics corrode, fuel lines sludge up, joints seize, rubbers degrade etc, etc, etc. You just have to keep at it and fix each problem as it turns up.
After 18 months of hassle on mine, selling it, buying it back, having work done, spending hours on my back doing work myself and loosing a lot of sleep I am finally driving it on a regular basis. The starter motor keeps sticking though. Why do we do this? now there's an idea for a thread.

If you have replaced a corroded tank I would have a look at the fuel line too.
You can replace this with a new one. Vauxhalls used a plastic tube that does the job pretty well.
Good idea to stick a cheap in line fuel filter just on the pump inlet too before you replace the fuel line.

i took the tank off with the rear subframe to weld up the boot floor washed tank out replaced petrol line striped carb took head off reground valves renewed timeing chain fitted new complete dizzy with ele ignition flushed out all heater bits with rad renew all heater pipes fitted all new rubbers from both subframes new shockers and springs all new ball joints steering rack all brakes renewed including dices pipes hubs cylinder calipers new clutch complete with pipe and cylinder new exhaust all new wheel bearing new fuse box rec box alternator new battery all oils filters replaced finished off with new tyres and respayed i know its been off the road a long time buy i have given lots of time and money on her the tank i painted and looked ok and it did do about 3 hundred miles before it leaked lets hope its ok now when i refit the new tank thanks for all the inbut
