Terminally Rotten Sprint - what to save?

#1 Post by mikeybish »

I've aquired the rustiest Dolomite I have ever set eyes on - a Pimento R-reg Sprint. It appears to be low mileage (57k) so hopefully will yield a good engine/gearbox/diff. Bodily it is more than shot, although the floorpan sections from the drivers seat back aren't too bad.

Does anybody need any repair sections?

Are there any obsolete parts or Sprint specific bracketry etc. worth saving?

Cheers

Mikey

I second the above, particularly with values seeming to rise at last, there may be life left in it yet as options for some continually diminish.

If it is a 'goner', then we will happily accept brake master cylinders, steering racks, brake calipers, alternators and starter motors for the reconditioning schemes...

The plate which holds the brake balance valve to the floor pan is also often useful if someone is doing a re-shell, as are the exhaust heat shields. Triumph steering pad is unique to the Sprint.

Definitely no life left in it as a car, sat outside for over a decade on damp ground, not helped by some yobbo lobbing a brick through sunroof. A couple of potentially saveable front wings removed, these will be going into my store and will probably be used as section repairs for my own Sprint. The rest of the front end (floorpans, inner wings, scuttle, bulkhead, subframe mounts and even subframe) have disintegrated. Now chopped/stripped past point of no return. Have had a couple of pm's may be able to help a few people - keep em coming!

Will post some pics when I can work out how to get them from my phone onto here!

The poor old Sprint is pretty much broken now. It's managed to help out a few people by donating some bits/repair sections.
Amazed how small the load looks now its all chopped up. Yes that pretty much is all of it in the trailer, bar the door shells (and the roof skin that I kept for welding metal!)

Before I consign the passenger side rear wing to the skip, is it of any use to anyone either in it's entirety or in part for repair sections?

The arch is not good, neither is the bottom section under the bumper, however the curved top bits etc. are ok. PM quick, happy to chop bits and post.

Let me know asap!

Hi Mikey, would you have the brkt that fastens the exhaust down pipes to the gearbox please?

That's probably the most desperate thing I'm after right now!

Cheers, Shaun.

Ps...and a tunnel mounted (horizontal) heat shield please! :)
Come and see some pretty shoddy, slow driving of a really well prepared competition Sprint here!

Well, going by another thread currently running, the servo for a start.

sorry, that one's not available - the main reason I acquired the car was for the engine, gearbox and diff. I'll be keeping them in one piece.

(can't quite picture the bit you refer to, will have to look that up later!)

I was going to junk the servo as the bottom of the outer casing seems to have succumbed to rot, but having caught up on thour highlighted thread, I'll retrieve and give it a closer look!

thanks
