Battery in the boot?
Re: Battery in the boot?
I was wondering what those holes were. I guess these are plugged on mine so no issue. I was going to add the slim electric fan with those zip things that just go through the core with a round holding unit on the front side. Where does the hose leading from the bottom of your Volvo bottle feed? I thought it should go to the bottom radiator hose.
Aye...
Your post is somewhat irrelevant Steve because Joe is fitting the radiator to a Sprint.
There is much less space between the engine and front panel in a standard engined car. Your radiator location is
too far from the front panel to clear a slant four bottom pulley.

Hmmm.......
I won't use cable ties to attach a fan to a radiator, it is just too crude a method that is asking for trouble.georgiasprint wrote:I was wondering what those holes were. You are better using a newer Volvo header tank from an 850 rather than a 240(it has a low level warning).
This tank needs to be mounted on the LH strut turret.
Yes, you are correct, the 19mm bottom outlet should be plumbed into the bottom radiator hose.

Re: Battery in the boot?
I really appreciate all of this info. I have the later bottle and was wondering about what sort of alarm/flashing light/disco ball to use to alert me when the level is low. So I'm going to hang the bottle off the turret and over the cam cover and plumb from there. It's off to the body shop to replace my Buick-customized front left door tomorrow and then back for the cooling system upgrade. Thanks again. Beers on me when I come over for the 2017 10CR with the rest of Team Torpedo!

Re: Aye...
I fitted my rad where it is, a) because I could and b) because i've left room for an oil cooler, should it turn out that I need one. But if I lowered the mounts a touch, the rad would go forward from its current position by about 1.5" or possibly a bit more with only minor fettling of the front panel, since I don't need the space, I shan't bother! But the theory is the same!sprint95m wrote:Your post is somewhat irrelevant Steve because Joe is fitting the radiator to a Sprint.

I still can't quite understand how i've managed to replace one 2 litre iron block, alloy headed engine (Sprint) with another 2 litre iron block, alloy headed engine (Carlton) and ended up with something that sits 5" further back and weighs many kilos less, enough that the ride height on Sprint suspension was seriously affected. I know a 2 door body is lighter than a 4 door and I have removed the rather heavy front bumper but 90% at least of my weight saving has been aft of the CG.

Re: Battery in the boot?
Clearly this won't be for everyone but here is where mine will sit. Cable will run along the tunnel to the kill switch and then onto the engine.
