Newbie 1976 Sprint

#1 Post by laza56 »

Hi
Just bought a 76 sprint , this is my third Dolomite but first Sprint , its Inca Yellow with a sunroof although it is black with a white roof at the moment but well go back to Inca yellow .
We have had a little journey so far , we were meant to pick it up two months ago but the Jeep overheated when we picked up the trailer and had to remove the heads and get them reconditioned some $2600 later so we are now ready to try again this weekend all going well .
No photos at this time but well post once we have pick up the Sprint and know a little more about it , all we know at this point is it came from Adelaide in South Australia from a guy who had a collection of Sprints and was given to Dwayne as payment for working on other Sprints .
The Sprint is in Millicent South Australia at this time where we intend to pick it up from and bring back to Maryborough Victoria about a four hour drive . :D

I share your excitement; a road trip and picking up a Sprint; they don't make weekends like that for me any more!

Unless it has been resprayed, you'll likely find it is mimosa not inca on the basis of it being both a '76 car and in Australia...

Hi

Welcome to the forum. I have an ex NSW 76 mimosa Sprint that came across to Auckland in 1996. They certainly get around. Apart from the state mine originates from, I haven't been able to find out anything more about it until it arrived in NZ

Went through Millicent a few years ago when we drove Melbourne to Adelaide on the Great Ocean Road, stayed Port Fairy, then Robe. In a rental Falcon though, a Sprint would have been more fun.

Stu, on here as Straylight, now lives in Adelaide but until recently used to live just inland from the Princes Highway at Lucindale, in the vicinity of Millicent / Robe area. He may even know something about the history of your car.

If you search for one of his posts on here you should be able to 'pm' him.

Let us know how you get on.

Stu has a list of Aussie Sprints so yours could well be on his database.
