I have a droop!! The interior grab handles of my 73 Dolly have gone all saggy. I was wondering I take it they did start out in life flat? The earlier ones weren't baggier by design I take it? Just cant work out how they have gotten like this. I have included an ebay link below, can someone please advise if they are the correct ones? Am I better buying these or good originals? (Does anyone have any?)
Dolly-Dimple wrote:Next Question...how do they come off? It says I will have to modify one as these are all left handers...
Russell this is surprisingly easy,
the grab handles pivot, so simply pull the strap down which will reveal two fixing screws.
I would imagine that it could be practical to straighten grab handles but have never actually tried to do so,
as on the occasion that I needed one I has a good secondhand one to hand.
If you want to experiment, I am thinking a little heat will be needed followed by clamping in a press of sorts?

The ones advertised do not look authentic, they look to be leather rather than the hard plastic original material and with a little use as the leather softens, they will likely droop worse than your's do now.
Modification of one of those would however be easy using your own pivots; once off the car the black bit is held to the metal pivot with two screws and a plate washer.
Alternatively, I could sent you a set of three second hand non drooping ones for £40 inc postage.
Thanks very much both for the replies, much appreciated indeed Hopefully the old dear that had my car from new wasn't haring round bends causing the passengers to cling on for dear life on the handles!!
I was thinking that, that they didn't look quite authentic.
I shall take you up on that at £40 including postage, Ill PM you
