Looking like I'll order a Superb business hatch 150ps when it's time, it comes more or less fully loaded for list price. It's big, and based on the Passat chassis I'm told.
Good choice!!
Yes the current new model is based on the MQB (Modular transversal) platform, thanks Wikipedia!
There are indeed some cracking deals to be had on the old Berb...
I like its wacky boot and hatch combo for tech interest. Guess you dont have that in the estate
and it does leave it slightly challenged aesthetically.
I agree a new one is a great choice.
I drove an XE the other day and thought it was ace...every bit as good as the pundits say and only a
lower powered auto too.
The thought of having a manual boxed one and paying no road tax is pretty appealing...
Jonners
Note from Admin: sadly Jon passed away in February 2018 but his humour and wealth of knowledge will be fondly remembered by all. RIP Jonners.
I shall be driving the XE in a few weeks in diesel 180bhp form so look forward to that. Should be able to drive the 320d M Sport on the same route so will be very interesting to compare them. I was impressed with the last 320d I drove though it was a little noisy. Certainly the latest BMW diesel in my 1 series is markedly more refined than the previous generation so hopefully as the 3 series also has this incarnation too it will also be quieter.
I see the Superb 190bhp diesel is also on offer. Whilst I don't expect it to be a drivers car like the others it will be interesting to test it. Sadly no Mondeo at the event, though the last one I drove, a Hybrid was merely OK. Certainly the interior was a real let down vs competitors.
I do hope the XE proves to be a nice car. Was deeply disappointed in the RR Evoque when I drove one despite the media hype.
