Dolomite 1850 carb mounts
Dolomite 1850 carb mounts
Had a dry evening here last week so thought I'd take the Dolly out for a run. Wouldn't tick over once warm with choke pushed fully in. Further investigation showed that both carb flexible mountings, apparently changed by the previous owner, are completely shot.
So, my options are, replace with flexible mounting rubbers again, or buy the club solid mountings. Are these currently available for an 1850? The original part number is UKC2387.
I'm loathe to get the rubber ones again as my car did less than 300 miles in the previous ownership so can't have done more than 400 miles since they were last replaced, unless there's a particularly duff batch around.

Good news about the mounts then. Are the gaskets the same as for the original rubber mounts - UKC 638B?Mad Mart wrote:Yes the 1850 alloy mounts are available but we have no gaskets.
I've rung the spares number in 'Dolly Mixture' - is there a direct line or email I can use if no response to my message?

Re: Dolomite 1850 carb mounts
After 40 years of keeping leftovers from decoke gasket sets, I have a biscuit tin full of carb gaskets, mostly from Payen sets. If anyone has one proper one I can use for a pattern, i'll dig out a couple of dozen!

Re: Dolomite 1850 carb mounts
Are your mounts REALLY leaking? They look perished but dont actually leak very often in my experience.
Squirt some carb cleaner easystart wd40 whatever on t hem and see if the engine note changes....
Or a listening tube for the hiss...
If its running rough suddenly suspect a blocked float valve especially on newish mounts.

New flexible 1850 mounts are expensive and leak. Buy the club ones, fit and forget.

Ok I had heard reports of "new" rubber ones being of iffy quality...
I dont have a rubber mounted HS4 car at the moment...just going on past experience.
