Toledo back on the road
My Toledo is al last out of the garage in its "new" paint. I had a think about costs, the fibreglass front wings were (I think) £25/pr and fitted remarkably well. The headlight sections and repair panels I made. Drivers door and bonnet were given to me (by a very generous chap) and one rear door was again £25. I had the primer and the "anthracite" I used on the roof. 5 litres of 2K with hardener was £75. So I haven't spent a fortune. Including odds and ends under £200. Not bad. Plus I have loads of red paint left!
All it needs is to find the front badge (in a cupboard somewhere) clean the interior and sort the parcelshelf/carpets and all those odds and ends. And some spotlights. Oh, and I have a 55w worklight that will make an excellent reversing lamp! (I know, too powerful, but handy)

Re: Toledo back on the road
Looking good Clive. You're either brave or you had decent PPE to have used 2K paint. I know of a local chap who painted his Stag in 2K but he had a decent protective mask from when he worked in the chemical industry so he was safe from the nasties.
Love the plate, by the way.

Re: Toledo back on the road
A home-cobbled air fed mask. Made from a £10 gas mask (ex NATO) and a £15 devilblis diaphragm compressor.
And yes, I do take care. However, the sanding and dust caused me more issues, played havoc with my asthma the day before a 10k (running) event. A hefty dose of ventolin, and careful pacing meant a "fair" result that day (just shy of 50 mins with 50+mph wind gusts for half the time, more than happy in retrospect, especially at my age)

Re: Toledo back on the road
I have a mate who would love that plate too.
Looks rather mean for some reason, think it's those wheels, and the red and black paint job!

Current fleet: '75 Sprint, '73 1850, Daihatsu Fourtrak, Honda CG125, Yamaha Fazer 600, Shetland 570 (yes it's a boat!)
Past fleet: Triumph 2000, Lancia Beta Coupe, BL Mini Clubman, Austin Metro, Vauxhall Cavalier MK1 & MK2, Renault 18 D, Rover 216 GSI, Honda Accord (most expensive car purchase, hated, made out of magnetic metal as only car I've ever been crashed into...4 times), BMW 318, Golf GTi MK3 16v x 3

Yeah.......
Looking smart Clive, it certainly does stand out, so
is this the car you intend using for the 2016 RBRR (which will be the 50th anniversary of the first?)?
Ian.

Re: Toledo back on the road
Oh yes! it will be thoroughly used beforehand to shake down any issues, and will also gain additional lighting (front and rear) and then one dark, probably damp, weekend in October it will clock up in excess of 2000 miles in 48 hours. And I will consume vast amounts of tea, cake, biscuits and a couple of breakfasts!
Anybody else here doing it? I know there are a few dollys and tollys that do enter..
