Forged Pistons for 1500 spit/dolly
Anyone had any experience with forged pistons in a 1500 engine? looking at these as they seam cheap

Forged piston sets are typically around £500-600 so these are about right. Not sure there'd be a great advantage in fitting them to a 1500 engine. I've fitted forged pistons to my Sprint engine though this was more to do with availability of oversized pistons for a reasonable price rather than any other reason. There's no shortage of oversized pistons for the 1500 engine as far as I know.
Certainly in Spit and MG form no one power tunes these engines, 1300's yes but 1500's are too long stroke and weak to be tuned and strong.

Was more interested in weight savings and safety of not blowing a piston than peak power

I hope your pistons will not rotate. The 1300 and 1500 pistons are quite small so the weight gain will also be less. Ofcourse they are lighter but a certain percentage from not much is not much. The piston pin will be the same weight so the overall gain in percentage is even more less. If you want a more revvy engine lighten an balance the the rotating parts. Not difficult and not expensive and the most effective. You can do a lot more on a 1500 engine but it will not last and will become unsuitable for normal daily driving.

I'll be getting a aluminium lightened flywheel from Moss as well, an uprated camshaft and sending my crank off to get balanced but to remove the correct weight off the crank, the piston assembly needs to be weighed and the lighter that is, the lighter the crank can be so I was going to try and get these to lighten the piston assembly to create a revvyer enginesoe8m wrote:I hope your pistons will not rotate. Just buying instant uprated parts and fitting them together is not a guarantee for a reliable driveable engine.

You do not want to create revvier 1500 engine. As has been said before it is a long stroke and doesn't like to rev. You need to tune it for good torque within the standard rev range.Boost All The Dollys wrote: to create a revvyer engine
