Toledo battery

Hello all, just a very quick one...

I need to buy a new battery for my Toledo so I would appreciate suggestions of a good (reasonably priced!) battery and also a good place to purchase one online.

Easiest is the 038 from Halfords. Seem to be kept in stock and a no hassle warranty (try sending one back to an online supplier after 2 years)
Even better if you have a tradecard or can borrow one....

An 038 is unfortunately about as big as the space allows. I've had both one of these :

(the £45 one) in recent times. Both delivered the next day, well packed and no problems. The ABS one has been in the Dolomite now for three years and keeps pretty well charged even when it has had to be left for quite some time.

The Lucas one cost me £5 more than they are now when I bought it during the winter but I've yet to see how it does as I've just licensed the car it's for as Historic today so it'll be used for the first time this week. I haven't really examined any of the newer sizes to see if there's a bigger capacity one that fits with normal terminals, maybe someone else has tried and knows for sure. The Halfords battery seems very competitive, to be fair, in comparison to both of these so although you said about buying one on line, maybe Halfords is the answer!

Just seen this post. I had to get a battery for my Dolly 1300 last year. I was looking to try to find one that gave more clearance between it and the alternator which was very tight. Halfords have one that is perfect but unfortunately haven't got the details to hand. It is 45 amp hr. and taller and narrower and clears the alternator by miles. I had to screw out the threaded bar and then bend them a little to get the clamp on and the poles were a smidgeon larger which I filed down to get a good fit.

I feel much happier with this one installed as the clearance on the old one and in other 1300s I've seen was so close it must have touched the alternator when the car was running.

I've got a Varta B34 Blue in my Sprint, it's ever so slightly longer and not as wide as an 015 but it fits the standard battery brackets perfectly and without modification!

45 Amp-hour and maintenance free!

The last two 015 batteries cost about the same and barely outlasted their 3-year warranty.
