Hi chaps I am in two minds weather to sell my low millage auto sprint
for the last couple of years I have been fancing a change but when I go up to the garage she melts my heart away and I change my mind
what price would you put on a 43k auto russet unrestored original sprint ????
I know this should may be put in the for sale part of the forum but I need a bit of feed back from you good people first......

Why not apply for a free Club insurance valuation? That would give you an upper ceiling...

I've just put an agreed value of £12k on my '73 Sprint (37k miles from new)

Do bear in mind asking prices are not always realised, and insurance valuations are usually higher than 'normal' market value

I keep an eye on prices of a range of old cars, partly because I moderate the sales section on a different car forum and it's useful to know what cars make for the valuations section. Car and classic is generally the highest end of the market price wise and some cars go round and round and round. eBay is fraught with dangers but you can search the completed listings and they can be very useful,in determining what cars have SOLD for as opposed to what they were FOR SALE at. Clubs are a god send in more ways than one but as has already been said the valuations are for insurance so include an amount for finding a replacement vehicle and sometimes other costs as well, they tend to be anywhere from 10%-50% over market value. But prices for almost all classics are on the up so what is silly money one day isn't the next sometimes. Most of all find a price that both you and the buyer are happy with.

Hmmmm, Auto and not the best colour, but low mileage and looks mint. And originality is always desireable! My gut says £9-11k!

Get an MGBGT if you really MUST, but for gossake don't touch a Monte Carlo! Flawed masterpiece is an understatement! It's like buying an Alfa but with lethal road manners, more rot and worse electrics! I drove one once and it scared it out of me!

It is worth what someone is prepared to pay for it!

That of course is not true for MGBs as folk seem daft enough to pay well over the odds for a mediocre, nothing special motor car!!

I think a russet auto even in your condition will struggle to break 7 grand myself.
I would keep it....it will be very hard to replace.

For info: wolfies low mileage late sprint went for 10k last week, but it was a original non-restored manual and a popular colour, but it was not a minter. Interesting to see what you get for it.

A lot depends on how long you're prepared to wait, but the auto box might hold you back more than the colour. I sold my last Sprint at the back end of last year through Car and Classic relatively quickly for £6750 (it was a well restored manual in Russet). The unknown factor is the valuation on low miles and originality which might lift your car above mine but I would be surprised if a £10k plus asking price attracted much interest. Recently I have noticed a few cars with £10k plus price tags, it'll be interesting to see how long they remain on sale for.
