Starter solenoid sticking

#1 Post by marko »

The starter solenoid is sticking (on my 1500tc) and just clicks when turned, the ignition light also dims. It is taking longer and longer to get it started due to this and I was wondering what I can do. It's the starter motor and solenoid together type, can I strip and refurbish the solenoid?

I would check battery connections and also make sure you have a good earth connection. If you have a multimeter check that you are getting full voltage down the thin wire that goes to solenoid. I spent ages trying to sort mine out and eventually traced it to a poor connection at the solenoid. Hope this helps and I'm sure forum members will help you further. Good luck tractor boy
