Diff cover gaskets

So I finally decide to actually do some work on my car and the diff cover gasket I bought ages doesn't fit. Anyone know where to get one that does or am I better off just making one? Annoyingly I bought 2 in case I damaged one but both are about 1/4 inch out, you can get one set of holes to line up but not the other side. Very annoying.

I think I bought mine from Rimmers, a good fit but I did have trouble putting all the bolts back in, although i fitted then losely, there was always two that I couldn't get to go in. I managed it eventually after changing the order of fitement.

Same issue as you - holes were out, spoke with the seller (RB) asking if there had been report issues - "NO" was the reply as per normal

Yes I got mine from RB also!

Will try the supplier you suggested. I'll also see if we have any gasket paper at work, not sure if we buy them in or make our own.

Has anyone ever used nitrile/cellulose type material? I see a lot of moderns use this sort of material and thought maybe it would be better than card and heldite!

The R B one i tried to fit a while back was hopless, all the holes matched up ok but the gasket was as thin as newspaper, i ended up fitting back the original 1977 one and the R B one together

Apparently the material used starts with a high moisture content and then shrinks if stored for a long time so I therefore suspect that the 2 I have started OK but have shrunk. Clearly we haven't been buying enough for RB to replenish their supply!
