I've been looking into why my auto Sprint's fuel consumption is 26-27mpg and recently saw Jeroen's comment about fuel pressure with electric pumps. I've measure mine and it is 3-3.5psi which is 0.2-0.25 bar, slightly above the maximum figure Jeroen quotes.
If I go back to a mechanical pump, I will first need to source a correct one. I've read quite a bit about ones being supplied with different arms that may or may not line up with the cam on the jackshaft, plus a question of spacers. As it is going to be couriered half way round the world, I an anxious make sure that I get the correct one! So the question is where can I get a correct one from?
The block came from a '75 Sprint with a chassis number just below 10,000.

Can you not use a regulator to get your pressure where you want? Is this for webers? SU's run about 1.5psi

Sprints being side draught dont suffer so much from fuel in the sump if the float valves cant cope.
If you are seeing 26-7 mpg on a Sprint auto I would say not a lot is wrong. You are bound to be looking at 10% less economy
on an auto over a manual car I would have thought.
Does it have other signs of running rich?
I have HIF's on my P6 which work fine with an electric pump. On the stag I did have too high pressure which overcomes the float valves and
caused oil dilution. The clue was the pump wouldn't stop ticking....and wasn't sucking air. So I fitted the pressure reg which means it now does stop
ticking.
If yours stops ticking at rest then chances are all is well.
