Time and money are the twin curses of the home restorer.

Like peace and freedom they are almost mutually exclusive!

I dont see why peace and freedom are mutually exclusive. I'd say they should go together....

Its time and money that are mutually exclusive....:-)

Some American or other, Andrew Jackson or Mark Twain or some one like that said "You can have peace, or you can have freedom, don't ever count on having both at once"

Think about it Jonners, we are more or less at peace at the moment, but just HOW free are we? Sure there are no physical chains...........

I'll say no more on this subject here on the grounds that we want this thread to stay in the resto section and not moved to the "sin bin".

This isn't politics, its philosophy! - but I agree, this is not the place for it!

Anyhoo, engine now running albeit popping and banging as it needs timing up properly and I've no idea how to set the Dell'ortos up!

Biggest problem is with the EWP; it's running fine but can't get the rad fan to come on when the indicator on the EWP controller says it is on....first time I had the fan relay wired up incorrectly but now it is as it is shown in the manual....absolutely no idea why it won't work...when I hard wire a positive feed to the fan it comes on, so clueless!

Check the relay wiring again. On the ewp the controller switches the fan on via the earth. Also try another relay, Ive had a couple fail recently (new ones)

I'm going to rewire everything again even though I wired the relay again yesterday and tried a couple of different new ones....when I apply power to the relay you can hear it clicking so I think it's working....it's 40 amp, that won't have an effect will it?

40 amp shouldn't affect it no. Check when it clicks if theres voltage coming out of the relay to the fan itself.

Sparky at work is suggesting I check the 87 Wire (earth from the controller) - reckons if I earth that, if everything else is working the fan will come on....that's the trouble with working away, I have to wait until I get home on Friday to test it!

A bit of a belated update, I’ve completely rewired the entire new fuse and relay board and despite me taking great care when doing it the first time…it turns out the fan relay/EWP controller was wired incorrectly.

I hadn’t realised that the relay was earthed by the EWP controller and that it had two positive feeds – I’d wired it up like a traditional relay so no wonder it didn’t work!

Re wired it and put the temp sender in a cup of boiling water and everything acted as it should.

Just a bit concerned that the temp on the EWP screen showed one temp, about 75 degrees and the gauge in the car showed it was ¾ hot which I would think is over 80 odd degrees?

In other news, now all the wiring has been done, I removed all the dash and glove box and had it flocked so will be picking that up this week and fitting it all at the week end.

Also fitted brand new door handles that I picked up in the Rimmers sale and fitted all the Perspex door windows.

Got Super Al coming round at the weekend to sort the timing, fuelling and throttle linkage out.

Outstanding jobs include – fit the windscreen and all the door seals, fill the clutch and brakes etc. get it tracked up etc. and then see if it’ll move under it’s own power!

A bit of a teaser really, but just received some pics back from the Flocker...

The dash was chopped in the corners to miss the roll cage so hence has needed the missing bits to be put back in. This was done by inserting a metal strip into the corners, building the profile up with fibre glass and then profiling with filler before finishing with the flock.

I'll post some more revealing pics once I pick it up later in the week.
