I carried out an oil change yesterday on one of my 1500 dolomite's and I am finding it difficult to get the new oil filter to seal to the engine block. The new filter is a classic gold GFE150. Has anyone else had a similar problem as when I took the car to my local garage this morning to arrange for it's MoT the mechanic advised me they had recently had a similar problem.
I have spoken to Moss Bros Bristol and they have offered to give me another filter and to return the suspect filter to their supplier.

I have used the same filter before without problems. Did you clean the mating face on the block? Wipe of that, fresh oil on the seal (make sure it's seated properly on the filter) and that's all I've ever had to do.

I have lost track of the number of oil changes that I have carried out over the years and I always used the techniques you have described.

I have had similar on my 1300, when I checked it the rim was at a small but distinct angle to the thread meaning the gap was about 1-2mm different on one to the other when screwed on. You couldn't tell out of the box but it was obvious when on the engine.

Check the old seal is not on the block. 2 seals = leaks

The old seal is definitely not on the block.
