Clutch master cyl option?

#1 Post by tony g »

Are the M/C's with the reservoir built in ok to use? Land rover part by the looks of it. The remote reservoir on mine gets warm next to the water bottle Im using in the o/s bulkhead area so it needs to go . I know filling will be less straight forward but I have syringes :)

Cheers

I thought that it is on a remote as it fouls the manifold on a Sprint?
Current fleet: '75 Sprint, '73 1850, Daihatsu Fourtrak, Honda CG125, Yamaha Fazer 600, Shetland 570 (yes it's a boat!)

Past fleet: Triumph 2000, Lancia Beta Coupe, BL Mini Clubman, Austin Metro, Vauxhall Cavalier MK1 & MK2, Renault 18 D, Rover 216 GSI, Honda Accord (most expensive car purchase, hated, made out of magnetic metal as only car I've ever been crashed into...4 times), BMW 318, Golf GTi MK3 16v x 3

Why not relocate the reservoir?

(You need to buy dedicated brake fluid hose.)

Suspect the L/R one may have metric unions?

Not what you want. PM me if you want me to find you an OE reconned one with integral reservoir that will match your hose.

Pretty sure Ive got one already done with new seal kit.

This is common to land rover

Tony
You need a 5/8" bore cylinder.

I'd read on this very board that the standard 1850 style integral reservoir master cylinder fouls the Sprint servo which is why it was designed with a remote one, maybe the LR one sticks out further so it would be fine then?

(Edit: Not the manifold as I originally thought, no idea why that was in my head!)

Indeed, I've looked at this to replace mine, the LR one is .725" not .625"

The integral one standard to all the smaller Dollies does NOT foul a Sprint servo, I used this exact setup on the Carledo. Filling space is tight, but I can get a 500ml bottle of fluid in close enough to not spill any when filling. Of course I don't have twin carbs hanging over the top as well!

Sorry Tony, I don't know how the Landrover one compares, but to echo what has been said previously I've fitted 1850/1500 cylinders to Sprints several times.
