Dashboard Speaker Grill rentension

#1 Post by Flyfisherman »

Guys

My dashboard speaker grill clips are missing - the lugs on the grill are there, the plastic trim that these lugs push into are missing and the they are NLA has anybody come up with alternative.

The best solution I have found is blue tack. Stick some in the holes and then push the grille into it. it won't rattle around and it's easy to remove. I thought I'd bought some correct retainers but when I went to fit them I found they were wrong.

On mine a blue rawlplug (the one bigger than a brown) provided a solution. The plug is a push fit in the dash hole and the speaker grille pin pushes into the centre hole.

Have the same problem, going over bumps the grill jumps a bit.

I was going to try some grommets, but other jobs have been more pressing,
will check tonight.

Managed to find the grommet assortment,
and used a half inch blanking grommet, and pushed a flat blade screwdriver through.

It's a bit of a faff putting the grommet in, but it won't come out unless intended.
