Dave Keepax - RIP - Please read below

#1 Post by Triumph1300 »

This is very Dolomite related

Sadly Dave Keepax died on Wednesday 26th October. Dave is one of the stars of the latest John Clancy DVD and appears on disc 1 and disc 2. He was a long term supporter of our own TR Drivers Club here in the UK and we will be holding the 2017 Bullet Run in his memory. For those who don't know, Dave joined the Standard-Triumph styling studio in 1966 and was to have a major influence on just about every model put into production from that time on. He will probably be most remembered for styling the Dolomite with Mr. Micho and for the fabulous Triumph instruments from the 1973 model year mods for the TR6 (i.e. 1972) which were then applied to all current and future models and which influenced motor car production all over the world. Right now I'm using an Audi A3 which clearly has copies of Keepax instruments for example. TR7/8 owners will remember the Keepax alloys and Stag owners will all love the interior which was largely down to Dave. He was another unsung hero from that fabulous factory at Canley.

His funeral is this Friday at Oakley Wood Crematorium, Leamington Spa CV33 9QP. We plan to attend in our TR7 and if anyone else wants to fly the Triumph flag Dave's two surviving sisters would be thrilled. Please let me know. And yes, we will be at the Classic Motor Show that day but shooting off to make the funeral at 12:45 and then back again. Dolomites would be especially appreciated for obvious reasons.

This has been sent to me by John Clancy, I'm planning on attending with the Frankenmite, if anyone else is free, please let me know.

Bruce, I've made this thread a sticky as requested. I'd never heard of Dave before but the way you describe him reminds me of Lewis Daltrey, another unsung hero who also worked on developing "our" cars.
