Hi,
A chap in our club owns what is quite possibly the only ? Brown Sprint in Australia.
It had been privately imported by a chap who has since moved back to the UK and sold the car on.
The new owner didn't like the fact that the thin silver stripes were quite obviously not original, but the brown paint is.
So he removed the silver stripes and replaced them with Gold, saying that he wasn't sure if he liked it or not. Personally I think the Gold on Brown looks great, classy, but I'd like to know what is the correct colour please? Silver or Gold stripes on Brown?
Cheers,
Rob

Re: Correct colour stripes
I've never seen a gold one that I remember but have seen black and silver.

Re: Correct colour stripes
Sprints only ever wore black or silver stripes. Gold was reserved for some 1850's in a much thinner pinstripe. A brown sprint would have worn silver out of the factory.
If he likes gold, then gold is fine.

Re: Correct colour stripes
Good to hear there is another brown Sprint in the southern hemisphere!
This is mine, as bought, in 2000. With 195000km on the clock since 1975 and eight previous owners it was clearly tired but original. So the stripe was definitely silver. After the re-shell in 2010, into another 'maple' bodyshell, I chose another stripe design which is obviously based on the works red and blue on a white car, but with a variation to go with the brown paint job! I think it really adds to the 1970s look 101 race meetings and counting, next on 27 Nov.

Re: Correct colour stripes
I owned an 1850 a few years ago that was ordered from new in pharaoh gold (a TR7 colour) that had gold stripes. (looked very cool). However as mentioned never seen them on a Sprint.
