Aerial position ?

Hi all.
I am studying hard for my dream Sprint.
Where should the aerial be? Front wing, rear wing or roof ?
They seem to be anywhere ?

Some Sprints had a hole for the aerial in the O/S/F wing from new. My 78 model did. But lesser models didn't have the hole precut so the aerial could be wherever you wanted it (or wherever the radio fitter decided to put it) Mostly this was put in the rear wings on the side opposite the distributor since that was reckoned to minimize interference from the engine. Roof aerials were always expensive to buy and fit so mainly only went on more upmarket cars. So that's what i will have! (I don't have the wing with the hole any more)

Not sure about early versions of the 'lesser models'. However, the Dolomite 1300/1500/1500HL brochure dated 11/76 includes under electrical items a single speaker (mounted in the parcel shelf below the glove box) and wing mounted aerial. My current 1977 Dolomite 1500 has the radio pre-wiring in place, with the aerial located on the offside front wing, same as my 1850HL. A 1978 Dolomite 1500 owned many, many moons ago also had the radio pre-wiring located in the same places from new.

I have a 77 1500HL here with NO hole in the wing and an o/s/r wing mounted electric aerial. And My 73 Toledo had the same, but the aerial is manual and on the n/s/r wing. Some of this maybe accounted for by having new wings fitted, as NOS factory o/s/f wings DO NOT have an aerial hole in them (or the hole for the corner bumper mount, a throwback to the "shorty" bumper Toledo) The HL i'm breaking has had replacement steel wings fitted. So I guess that doesn't count! It may be another feature of the 76 update that created the HL models. And there's no mention of any pre fitted radio equipment AT ALL in my 73 Toledo brochure!

My 74 1500TC has it on rear o/s wing, mine is blanked off with a gromet and I have fitted my aerial in the boot, I get all the bbc stations and some of the local ones
