What thread is in the door pins? I thought it was a random self tapper type of thread on the bar/rods they screw on to? Look very nice :)

If they're aluminum then a slightly over-size hole would probably let it self-tap enough - it's not like they have that much force on them. I can't imagine you'd be able to machine a custom internal thread that small on a lathe (although I always underestimate what people can do with enough experience).

Either that or you cut the end of the rod off they fit on to and put a known-thread bolt/threaded bar on it.

Ok so here are progress pictures up until now:D

Found this beauty online.

Image

The underside has had a lot of attention!

Image

Image

Image

Image

Then this was liberally applied.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Still a little thin in places so another 6 are ready to be applied. But whilst we were waiting for deliver we got on with the arches.

Image

Image

The o/s/r arch is now all glued on in the final position. Also got the holes drilled for the n/s/r

Image

And bolted on:D

And that's it so far!

Also both rear arch sections are now glued on and filled.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Just chucked the front wings and arches on so we could have a moment of joy:D

Image

Image

Image

We also gave the floor of the car a coat of black whilst we were hanging around waiting for filler to dry:D

Image

Image

And that's you all up to date. Hoping to get ready for a second and final coat of stone chip this Sunday.

This is truly inspirational stuff! thank you for sharing. I reckon that car will be twice as good as it was when it came off the line..

Can I ask what the soundproofing on the roof is?

I've just started on my Dolly (fully stripped mechanically and on rotisserie), so I'm still in the state of depression and awe at how much work there is to do, but I'm looking forward to following in your footsteps.

Thank you guys. The sound proofing is from eBay. Item number 252645645801

Front subframe needed repair.

Image

So we cut the cups out of another subframe

Image

And then welded them in.

Image

Then time for paint!

Image

And of course fitting

Got all the front suspension arms grit blasted.

Then more paint.

Image

And some poly bushes.

Image

I've also got the front calipers fully rebuit and painted. They were pretty grubby.

Image

Got them all de rusted.

Image

And then new Pistons.

Image

Then the fun part.

Image

Image

Over the moon with them. Got some stainless nipples too:D

Image

Still more to update:D
