So I own a Dolomite again - the one I sold 3 years ago!

Hello fellow Dolomite owners!

In 2008 I bought a rusty old Vermilion 1500HL which, at the age of 17, became my first car. I learned an awful lot about mechanics on it, even changing the clutch one afternoon with nothing more than a bucket of worn open ended spanners! It saw me through my first two years of motoring, which included a time of working in the Isle of Man. During this time I carried out a multitude of running repairs and bodges to keep it on the road another year.

I sold it in 2013 to a chap in North Wales, a decision which I later bitterly regretted :buckets: You can therefore imagine my surprise when it surfaced on Ebay the other month in Bolton  a jaunt to see it re kindled the old memories and despite having only £156 to my name at the time, I agreed a price of £3500 with the thoroughly nice chap who was selling it .... (three times what I sold it for). A frantic week ensued, in which I managed to sell my Jaguar Sovereign and BMW 5 Series, as well as cashing in a government savings bond which I'd been saving for some such nonsense like a deposit on a house.

The long and the short of it is that I'm now reunited with my first car, which was essentially saved from the scrapyard by having most of my bodges put good, including; new rear panels, new door-skins, a presentable respray, all welding underneath sorted, an unleaded head fitted and a recon gearbox.

I will post photographs in due course!

Welcome back! Not everyone is as lucky as you in being able to buy back their old car.
