my awful engine bay lol

#1 Post by RON13R »

A bit of a funny day yesterday at the Old Warden classic car show In Bedfordshire
we had a great day traveling not too far from here in milton Keynes in a convoy of about 15 cars from the mk and silverstone classic car clubs (great friendly bunch of people!!!)
anyway we just got on to the A421 and bang my accelerator pedal hits the floor, snapped cable
thanks to the nice chap that was driving a nice old Ford Zephyr who stopped to help me get to a layby
then I had a 30 min wait for the RAC that put me in a temp cable and got me on my way....Thank you so much Mr RAC man :D
I need to get a throttle cable for my sprint auto any idea of wich one I need?conflicting part numbers on Rimmers and parts lists books chassis number is VA/23083-DLA BUILT 9 DEC 1976

eventually I arived at the show to a big cheer from the guys n girls of our club and bless them they saved me a space on the stand

Tha main reason for this post is that there was a couple of nice Dollys at the show and I rushed over to see the owners
after a little chat one of the chaps come to see my car, looked under the bonnet and said it was awful!!!
This has really struck a nerve with me ,though i havent detailed the engie bay for a few years,it still looked presentable in my opinion
So when i got home I cooked the Mrs a nice roastie and then sorted out the engine bay, clayed n polised the little sprint to let off a bit of steam
I done a little video after polishing, please let me know what you think and I look forward to seeing you all at shows in the future....well most of you anyway

If its the actual accelerator cable you need it looks like 158890 for all RHD Sprint and 1850s
If its the auto kickdown cable you need it looks like 218008; again for all 1850 /Sprints from the Feb 1981 parts book.

This is what mine looks like.

I second what Tony has said. All manual RHD Sprints and 1850s used part number 158890 for the accelerator cable. I've just checked all my parts catalogues to confirm this.

I didnt comment on his
he had only had it a month or so
it was a s reg sprint red or orange i think
it had a modern fuse box and relays mounted on the offside inner wing above the battery
and the ally head and inlet manifold had been painted with silver paint
