First drive of 2017

#1 Post by davbat »

Well having taxed WVF for hopefully the last 12 months, it felt wrong not to take her out for a drive so we headed off out towards the New Forest as the weather was good. On the way back we spotted this and I just had to stop… :eyes4u:

The owner asked for a straight swap, but I said no & held out for some cash my way after all his car was a lot older..!

Back in the real world and away from my imagination, this was a lovely Aston and a credit to the owner...

Not sure why they needed a Sat Nav to find the pub, perhaps they were forward thinking for the way home? Also it's bizarre that it is still on in the car though? (Maybe a Marie Celeste scenario, should I have claimed salvage? :D )

Here's a few more pics....

PS, there is one component that both cars seem to share, can you tell me what it is?

I think he means the Tex door mirrors! TBH, i'd have expected something more upmarket (and electrically operated) on an Aston! Even in 67!

It's a lovely Aston but more time needs to be spent driving it as the leather chairs are devoid of any patina. I'm free this weekend so am happy to do it.

Some more common parts, the boot lock is pure Dolomite and the reverse light appears to be the same Wipac unit used on many Toledos.

IIRC Aston raided the Triumph parts bin for the rear lamps too, shared with TR5s!
