What camshaft have I got?

#1 Post by unclepeter66 »

Hi, Just finishing off rebuilding my Dolomite Sprint I started way back in 2015 and have needed to change the head gasket. My question is what camshaft is in it? The camshaft has MC 25228 (or 9) stamped on the shaft and PK7 stamped on the end opposite the camchain. Is this the standard cam or an up-rated type? I can't find a definite link on the web (except for one for a Kawasaki motorbike) although it could be some kind of Piper cam?

Any ideas?

I believe that's a standard one, there's mention of MC 25229 on the old forum if that helps:

Current fleet: '75 Sprint, '73 1850, Daihatsu Fourtrak, Honda CG125, Yamaha Fazer 600, Shetland 570 (yes it's a boat!)

Past fleet: Triumph 2000, Lancia Beta Coupe, BL Mini Clubman, Austin Metro, Vauxhall Cavalier MK1 & MK2, Renault 18 D, Rover 216 GSI, Honda Accord (most expensive car purchase, hated, made out of magnetic metal as only car I've ever been crashed into...4 times), BMW 318, Golf GTi MK3 16v x 3

Thanks, I'm happy with that as I was kind of hoping it was. I have spend some time re-shimming it to get the 0.018" clearances right.

Check out this thread if you're setting OHC clearances:
