1850 exhaust manifold blowing
Re: 1850 exhaust manifold blowing
Rob, do you have a photo of the way you have wrapped your manifold?

Turbos run just fine with hot gasses. Heat is energy and will speed up exit as its under more pressure too.

Re: 1850 exhaust manifold blowing
I wrapped the length of the manifold with a strip and then secured it in place with wrapping around the front section amd then wrapping the rear section. I have used steel cable ties to hold the bandage but hose clips would work.
It is a fiddle and have to be careful to.make sure the mating faces are clear (obvious) but also the bolt holes are free as it can make refitting a PITA if the bandage is taught and the bolt tries to cross thread! As per Jonners and Aluns advice when you drop the manifold ita advisable to replace the bolts with studs if you can find them. I was in too much of a hurry so winded up using the bolts again.

With the exhaust manifold in place. That's as neat as can be done. I initially used a glass fibre wrap that was quite horrible as it sent lots of glass micro fibres onto the air as I was wrapping it, had to use a dust mask and goggles.
I then found some nicer titanium wrap that did not go crispy as the glad fibre one does after a while. Best way is to wrap it when it is off the car, or go for the ceramic coating if you want a nicer looking finish.
