Not one to usually talk values down, I think I'd want at least manual overdrive, a clean driver's seat and any other colour but brown for that sort of money!

At least that one is a Sprint. Personally I don't like brown cars - I never did even back in the seventies when there were lots of them. My Tahiti Blue 1850HL has only covered about the same mileage and is three years older. By the time I've finished fixing up the body, reconditioning the engine and putting in the O/D gearbox it never had, I should think folk will be falling over themselves to give me ten grand for it. Oh, and it will have a set of Sprint wheels - sorry.

Possibly. But I think the original steel wheels (which are extremely rusty) with those ghastly black plastic hubcaps do nothing for the car at all, and Sprint wheels are the easy option.

Does anyone want the steel wheels and plastic hubcaps? Free for the cost of carriage? No, I didn't think so....

Dolomite values confuse the hell out of me sometimes.

I've got a (former) 1500HL which has had a slightly home-made respray and modded to have an MX5 engine. Insurance asked me for the value and i've no idea :/ I paid £600 for it in 2012 and have improved it a hell of a lot. Looking on ebay it's worth anything between £600 and £6000

Brown 1500HL's aren't exactly rare either so it's not like a special edition. What possessed people to go into the dealer in the 70's and 80's and order a brown car? I've had 2 brown 1500HL's and wondered the same with both of them.

Seriously though, there was a design thing in the 70s for all orange/brown colours. I'm picturing my parent's house on Frizinghall Avenue, Bradford in my mind, resplendent with brown cord sofa, orange and brown swirly pattern carpet, matching curtains, and wallpaper of differing shades of brown squares in a seizure inducing geometric pattern. No wonder my generation painted everything in pastel shades!

What you have shown in that picture is pretty much my dream kitchen. I would love to have a perfect 1970's house complete with furniture, fittings, wallpaper, carpet etc. Sadly my house was built in 2008 so it's not going to happen where I live now and to be honest my wife wants nothing to do with my idea so it will remain but one of my life's ambitions.

Was it light blue by any chance? One of my (wealthy) friends used to have one when I was a kid. I was watching the Nigel Slater film Toast the other day, and got rather excited about the food mixer that pops up in the middle of one of the work surfaces in a scene and immediately was wondering if I can do that with my (was my mums) 1970's Kenwood Chef, that's still going strong!

I've just renewed my insurance and looking at how values were going up I proposed a value increase from £800 to £2 K. It was accepted by the insurers after just a short delay. And that's on SWK my daily driver which is O.K. but no museum piece. Keep an eye on sale prices folks !

I am a TSSC and as such paid for a club valuation.
Mine is a 4 door toledo, and again subject to a home respray a couple of years ago, some wings and doors etc so looks pretty enough, but by no means perfect.
Fitted with a slant engine/sprint box and axle.

Valuation came back at £3600. Ok, my pics were a bot flattering, but no lies were told. I was suprised. no idea what it would fetch if I decide to sell after the next RBRR...... but hopefully 2K would be nice. But I am glad to have such a valuation should things go pear shaped.
