Restoration Show, Stoneleigh, 28th October

#1 Post by DavePoth »

It's getting towards that time of year again. We already have one car for the stand (justyn is trailering one of his 1300s up to work on the front suspension), and we are planning on two cars this year.

Which means we have one spot. After the 'fun' we had last time, we've settled on a rule: If we're doing anything mechanical, the car has to be trailered to and from the show, just in case we don't get completely finished.

So, does anybody have a car that needs something done to it, that can be trailered to and from the venue? Write down below what you have and what needs doing. If you have an interesting thing to do, we can always try to arrange transport.

I have a few things that need doing to my Sprint and it can be trailered to & from the venue. First thing would be to pump up the 4 tyres but that shouldn't take long, then I think stripping & rebuilding the engine would be next, then stripping the front & rear suspension & renewing all the bushes. That should take 'til lunchtime. In the afternoon we could put on a new bonnet & boot lid & try to push the roof out or fit a new roof. Any time we have left at the end of the day we could start polishing the brass expansion tank.
Sprintless for the first time in 35+ years. :boggle2: ... Still Sprintless.

Engines, Gearboxes, Overdrives etc. rebuilt. PM me.

I guess there might be some stuff left to do at the end (I doubt we'll have time for the expansion tank) but it certainly would be proper restoring.

The offer of the white shell on temporary 1850 gear stands...just I don't have rebuilt engine gearbox and axle to go with it, just some s/h ones...

I can trailer the shell to and fro but would need extra trailer/tow assistance with the mechanicals and crane

Would provide much to do as screens need fitting, interior is bare, as are a couple of doors, I have a new exhaust system to go on it...etc etc

Pah, we could have done Andy's O/D box quicker than that if I hadn't lent my 9/16th spanner to someone else

head gasket on a Sprint? When everyone sees it done in 30 minutes they'll think "pah, they may (supposedly) destroy head gaskets but whats 30 minutes of my time" :P And then Pow! Another one sucked in to dolly ownership!

I'll bring some Brasso for that expansion tank

If anyone wants an interior doing let me know. However, you'd then have to sell the car shortly after

I've just received the booking form for this event, it needs to be returned ASAP. Is anyone interested in taking part/organising a display on behalf of the Club?
