Torque settings front strut to wishbone/ball joint

#1 Post by storeyn »

Just put my front damper back on and checked the torque settings in the workshop manual

They said 34 lbs ft which seems a bit low to me... any thoughts?

Also couldn’t find a setting for the strut top plate to inner wing? I went for 34 again but wasn’t 100% sure...

No that's fine and for a nylock nut...did you use a new one? I dont always....

The top fixing in the wing is only on small studs held in to a plate so 20 would be enough....34 isnt far off snapping them IMO.

Thanks Jonners

I didn’t use a new one, the ones that were on were relatively new.

I’ll adjust the top ones, don’t want to put too much stress on them

Thanks for your help :D

I did mine to 14 lbf - I used the same torque setting for the front anti roll bar to front strut as the both us a 5/16" unf nut.

Shame there is not torque loading for these nuts, but there is for the rears 1/4" unf @ 9 lbf
