A day in the country

#1 Post by Paul Roberts »

Well the silver car is finally (almost) finished. Yesterday saw its debut in competition with a timed event at a small circuit in the south-west of the State about 2 hours drive from Perth. Unfortunately a lot of rain ruined afternoon running, but got in three runs in the morning. Not as fast as some, but faster than others!! Sprintparts brakes work well with a good consistent pedal feel and no hint of fade using EBC 'green' pads (thanks Mark and Phillip). Played around with mixture as it was starting to miss around 4500 to 5000 under full acceleration but would come good if you eased off a fraction. Seem to have now got it running hard all the way to 6500 now but to deteriment of driveability under 3000 (hardly a problem!!) Car is fantastic fun to drive with very controllable four wheel drift handling characteristics thanks no doubt in part to old hard rubber. Seeing as I flat spotted the right front (made for a rather less pleasant drive home, it may be that I will have to bite the bullet and spend some money on tyres. A couple of pics attached
