Broken Delco Distributor cap spring - anyone got a spare?
Broken Delco Distributor cap spring - anyone got a spare?
The title says it all. One of the spring clips that hold the Delco dissy cap on my 1850HL has snapped. Can anyone help? I reaslly don't want to have to shell out for a recon dissy just for want of a spring clip. Thanks.

Try Robsport, give them a call?
I might have one somewhere, but it will take time to find.

Hi Mike, If you want a brand new one the part number is 518437 from the early 1850 parts book p.20-11.
Try the usual suppliers.
If not I can do you a 2nd hand one when I work out how to remove it from the Delco body. It looks like there isn't a roll-pin retainer.
HTH,
Tony.

Tony, if you can get one off, I would be glad of it. Looking at my dissy, the springy clip can simply be forced over the pin - as you say the pin doesn't seem to be removable. Let me know if you can get one off and how much it will cost to post it to me and I will PM you with my address and we can arrange reimbursement.
I put that part number into Rimmer's website and it came up with the correct item, but it was NLA. It suggested an alternative, and when I tried that it showed me a track rod end clamp from a Land Rover! Quite how that is an alternative to a distributor clip escapes me.
Thanks for your help.

It's a good idea, and I have thought of the distributor doctor, but as far as I know he only deals with Lucas dissys. His web site doesn't mention Delco units at all.tony g wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2017 12:44 pm If all else fails try here http://www.distributordoctor.com/

Have you tried any of the vauxhall parts suppliers or forums?
They have the same type of dizzy.
Cheers, Tony.
