please can anyboidy help?

Hi all - I am after some help. I have a 1973 fwd in my garage that belonged to my father who had the car from new but sadly he passed away in 1992. Since that time it has been in my garage - it starts and has been run a little but the clutch seems to have seized now and it also needs a bit of welding but is otherwise in good condtion. It would look better for a respray. My mother who is 85 now keeps asking me what i'm going to do with it and why don't i get rid of it. i couldn't do that it has too many childhood memories of me and my dad and deep down i know she's love to see ot back on the road. there's nothing i'd love more than to turn up at hers and take her out for a drive in it but it's beyond my capabilities to achieve this and i'd love to be able to do it before it becomes too late to do it. please can anybody recommend a person/garage local to blackpool/preston that may be able to help. i'm not after free help, i am more han happy to pay the going rate but just don't know where to turn to. thanks

S&S Preparations are in Lancashire; they are predominantly TR7 but familiar with Dolomite types. If they themselves aren't interested, they'd have good local knowledge and might recommend someone. With the demise of TVR I expect there's a couple or three local specialised businesses that would welcome the work...

Just a thought - re clutch stuck on. You can free this off on FWD cars, I did it myself years ago on a 1500. Remove cover over gearbox / clutch. Remove spark plugs, then loosen but do not remove all the bolts securing clutch cover to fly wheel. You should then be able to lever clutch driven plate off flywheel (or cover) gently with a broad blade screwdriver, working your way around the circumference of the unit. Once free, retighten the bolts and put plugs back and with a fresh battery and petrol she should be fine. plugs removed so that you can turn the engine - hopefully it is not also seized!

evesham croft - the strange thing about the clutch is that it will reverse ok but when it comes to going forward on my drive (that has a vaey slight incline) the car barely moves as if it is stuck in treacle. you have to rev it like mad to get it to go forward and then the clutch smokes?? why would this be?

Is it going into the right gear? ie 1st and not4th? Also possible problem with a rear brake lining come off the shoes and jamming rear brakes.

its easy to get it inti the wrong gear but no its definately in first and i've had the rear wheels off anf they spin freely

if the gearlever is sloppy then its the bushes on the linkage at base of lever
