Water drain plug

#1 Post by Gary RH7 »

I want to fit a tap in place of the water drain plug which site behind the starter motor. Anybody know what size thread the plug is or who can supply a decent tap?

Thanks,
Gary

1/2"UNF.

The plugs c/w taps were replaced by a simpler drain plug on Triumphs.
You may find what you are looking for on an early Vitesse or 2000 saloon,
but most will have been updated to the later style plug?
Chris Witor does a lightweight alloy version (of the later type).

I have not found removing the plug to be a problem.....

Thanks Ian,
Its not a problem removing the plug its where all the water goes when the plug comes out as it gushes freely all over the starter motor.

Cheers,
Gary

If you do go for a tap, make sure it can be locked closed so vibration doesnt open it. Old race cars had them lockwired.
