My brother Stuart doesn't know much about cars but does know a lot about Motorhead
(if indeed that is a redeeming characteristic?)
and has been known to speak without thinking or more especially speak on subjects on which he knows little if anything.......
He once asked "why do all Austin cars have names beginning with "M",
you know Austin Maxi, Austin Maestro, Austin Morris, Austin Metro, Austin Martin?"

Some people are like Slinky's, they serve no real purpose in life but bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.
Re: Car Tax - Historic Vehicles - Reminders?
My Volvo is £500 a year so its handy being able to pay monthly, last year I got a reminder that stated I needed to MOT the car before the end of month to be able the renew the RFL, MOT would expire 2 days before the RFL was due if I got the MOT they would carry on taking the monthly payment as usual.

Re: Car Tax - Historic Vehicles - Reminders?
I'm with Steve all the way on the Monthly DD payment method, I pay RFL Tax on 6 vehicles and have quite a few that are also stood unused, some of the taxed vehicles are only occasional use vehicles so I was forever getting fined because the tax had run out, I missed the reminders (I hate opening post!!) and I'd not SORNED the vehicles I've lost count of how many £80 fine's I've had in the past, since the option of monthly DD came in I've not been fined once as when the renewal comes up they send me an email thanking me for renewing even though I've actually done nothing at all about it and just let the DD continue so that 5% extra cost = a huge saving for me over all I even pay by DD for the Smart car at just £30 a year........it also gives me a warm smug feeling making them wait to get their grubby hands on my money rather than all in one lump

Mines VED is due now - I thought I would contact Gaydon for build date as my sprints date of registration is June 1978, I had a email today build date August 1977 - I'm TAX Exempt now
just need a Heritage Cert now and send it off.
