Toledo breather hose

#1 Post by RJF_70 »

Can anyone help with the supply or link to Toledo breather hose part number 154935. Been struggling to get car running properly so today once again cleaned all fuel parts. Replaced rubber hose from tank to fuel pipe, used metal hanger to again check pipes are clear (they are). Noticed that the breather hose doesn't fit right onto carb, but is fine onto the rocker cover, so tried to clamp it onto carb and just pops off. Come to conclusion that the hose is too short and probably not correct, also as revs increase the pipe moves, and when manually removed the engine runs rough , then dies! Could this be causing my issues? Don't actually know what the function of this hose is my thinking is that its connected to carb so surely should be sealed correctly so as not to draw air in? Any advice appreciated.

Not useful if it leaks, you'll have a weaker mixture for start, they seem to be widely available for under a fiver, look for Spitfire 1500 and late MG Midget 1500 as well. Mind you, it's only a bit of vacuum hose, you can buy that stuff for a pittance by the metre...
Current fleet: '75 Sprint, '73 1850, Daihatsu Fourtrak, Honda CG125, Yamaha Fazer 600, Shetland 570 (yes it's a boat!)

Past fleet: Triumph 2000, Lancia Beta Coupe, BL Mini Clubman, Austin Metro, Vauxhall Cavalier MK1 & MK2, Renault 18 D, Rover 216 GSI, Honda Accord (most expensive car purchase, hated, made out of magnetic metal as only car I've ever been crashed into...4 times), BMW 318, Golf GTi MK3 16v x 3

Do you have the carb to hose adapter fitted?
There should be one of these on the carb to accept the hose:http://www.leacyclassics.com/154934.html

Yes the adaptor is there, but if you try and put a jubilee clip on it to get the hose to stay it just pops off so will change that too.
