This is very timely.
El Sprinto failed on me twice this weekend, very hot coil etc. just under an hour later she started again. I know somebody mentioned fitting a proper 1 micro farad capacitor externally, but I haven't found anything suitable.

do you have the part number for the Fiesta condenser please?

Hi Malcolm, Here is a link to the thread on the external capacitor I had on my 1850.
The manual quotes the specified value as being 0.18 to 0.23uF
viewtopic.php?f=4&t=32201&hilit=capacitor

The one I tried is still available from R.S. Components 0.22uF at 1KV d.c rating part number 114-610 but the price is now nearly £6 each.
Is the Fiesta unit round about 0.2uF ?
Now with the link...
Tony.

This is also a timely post for me if I'm to ever get my 1850 running again on the Delco dizzy and points.

Pretty much any .22mfd 630v capacitor will do the job of a simple snubber. i.e http://uk.farnell.com/c/passive-compone ... ating=630v
Current fleet: '75 Sprint, '73 1850, Daihatsu Fourtrak, Honda CG125, Yamaha Fazer 600, Shetland 570 (yes it's a boat!)

Past fleet: Triumph 2000, Lancia Beta Coupe, BL Mini Clubman, Austin Metro, Vauxhall Cavalier MK1 & MK2, Renault 18 D, Rover 216 GSI, Honda Accord (most expensive car purchase, hated, made out of magnetic metal as only car I've ever been crashed into...4 times), BMW 318, Golf GTi MK3 16v x 3

Captains Log; Dolomite Attempted fix number 4,598,081.4

So after giving it a break to look at other projects, I took the dizzy off again, and found the base to be very dirty, so I cleaned it up to make a better earth contact. I then found the dizzy mounting on the engine block itself to be very dirty, in fact I'd say surface rust all over it. So I cleaned it up to a good finish, now will this cure my breakdown issues? Only time will tell

Cheers

Routing main power through the EPS manifolds to the forward array and reconfiguring it for a 10ms tachyon burst should do it....

Captain to Bridge; The Enterprise has been on a voyage to seek out this new like thing they call a road. On an attempt not to break down on this new thing call a road assistance was given from fellow Starship Vauxhall Omega. Many runs on this road were made and no issues with the Enterprise were encountered. This could not be said for the Starship Vauxhall Omega suffering a minor but repairable water leak. However further testing on this road shall be carried out before we can deem it safe to seek out new life at what they call car shows.

Back to the drawing board

Took it for MoT today, yes I know it doesn't need an MoT but that's another conversation. When though the test no problem, then on the way home, you guess it it broke down AGAIN!!

At the side of the road I took out a plug, its black so running rich. I cleaned out the fuel filer and wired in an external condenser to the bulkhead. It made it home under its own steam. Other than replacing the loom I don't know what else to suggest to fix the bl**dy thing

Cheers

As Above, also have you tried running it since, on the external condensor ?
