Triumph Dolomite Sprint

#1 Post by geoffjimbo »

Hi all
Just purchased an original Dolomite Sprint in Canberra ACT that is currently registered and i was going through the car checking out that all is ok but have found a problem with the existing heater lines that are under the carburetors that connect to the heater that are showing signs of being rusted out in places. The pipes travel towards the firewall then turn up at 90 degrees to connect to the heater via 2 rubber hoses and I am unable to find any photos of how they were originally installed or if there is any parts listed to replace these pipes. Any advise or photos would be appreciated
Regards Geoff

Hi Geoff,

A common point of corrosion, but luckily Chris Witor has had these remanufactured for us in stainless steel.

There are 'early' and 'late' versions. On one, the bend up toward the heater flow and return is in metal, the other in rubber hose, the metal work being a simple 'H'. The other ends of the 'H' connect to the water pump cover and the underside of the inlet manifold via rubber hose, but the pipes with the integral bends also have a direct union to the manifold. The cross piece in the 'H' part of the metal pipes is important, as it allows water flow to sustain via this as a by-pass when the heater is off.

Congratulations on your fine purchase!
