Cam cover breather oil vapour recirculation.

#1 Post by sprintchris »

So here’s with my second question.

When using Dellortos or Webber’s on the Sprint, there’s no oil vapour take off for the crankcase breather. Any way around this? Has anyone come up with a clever idea of redirecting the breather into the air intake and eliminating the smell of oily fumes.

Thanks in advance,

Chris.

I used an empty brake fluid container. Made a hole and inserted a piece of tube from the breather. Then used a small K&N filter in the lid. I maybe able to find a photo later.

Engines, Gearboxes, Overdrives etc. rebuilt. PM me.

The Lotus solution to this, ( Dellortos and a Sprint style GRP airbox ) is to run a rigid pipe back from the airbox to a flexi-rubber coupler and then to a rigid metal pipe in the cam-cover. It seems to work well.
