Clutch hydraulics diagnosis please

For everything to do with Dolomites, Toledos, FWD cars and Dolomite-based kitcars.

Clutch hydraulics diagnosis please

#1 Post by toryroger »

Biting point getting lower, gears becoming reluctant to engage etc.
Is there a method for deciding on blame - master or slave?
No leak at "carpet" end; no significant loss in reservoir; so I suspect a seal is letting oil past.
(The pipe is 2 years new)
Thanks
for any ideas

Get under the car and check the rubber on the slave cylinder and see if you have fluid there. Mine was not losing much fluid and then gave way quickly causing the clutch not yo release and crunching gears to no gears at all very quickly.

You have not stated what model dolomite you have but I do suggest you read the article on pages 7 and 8 of the current April - May edition of Dolly Mixture which covers clutch hydraulic problems.
