Beam Calculation

#1 Post by Mad Mart »

I need to get a beam for for my engine hoist. Can any one tell me if it is ok to use this size: 205x103. That is the size of the beam in my old garage but the new beam will need to be about 200mm. longer.

The span is 5375 (between walls) and the hoist has an SWL of 5 CWT.
Sprintless for the first time in 35+ years. :boggle2: ... Still Sprintless.

Engines, Gearboxes, Overdrives etc. rebuilt. PM me.

https://www.steelbeamcalculator.co.uk/userguide Will tell you how much it will bend, is it an RSJ? They come with a point loading figure for a span.
