I can't get the headlight flash to work on my Dolly. Now the problem is complicated by the fact I converted a 1500 to a Sprint. Coming all over all Yorkshire, I saw the cost of a new loom, said how much and modified the 1500 loom for the Sprint engine. Basically i took the whole loom apart and relocated the wires to were the need to be for the Sprint engine.
I have everything work apart from the headlight flash. The headlights are now operated by a home made relay system and that works fine. Just no headlight flash.

The headlight flash works off the FUSED side of the permanent live fuse. So it could be as simple as a dirty or blown fuse! Power gets to the flash switch bit, not via the lighs at all, but from that fuse via the purple wire in the dipswitch loom so check for feed in the plug at the base of the column if the fuse checks out OK. If you have feed there, then the switch is duff, you may be able to clean it, but don't hold your breath! See Kyles thread on indicator switches!

Oh i modified the fuses as well, lost patience with the old leyland box not working properly. Just found out I had no dip beam. I have Jeroen's relay mod fitted, checked the dip beam feed, nothing. Traced it to the stalk switch. I was a bit puzzled, since that switch was fitted when I fitted the relays, and although the switch was second hand I had visually inspected all the contacts and the plastic and there was no signs of wear, arcing or burning.
Turns out I must have aligned the cables wrongly and placed stress on the dip beam terminal, picture below. Out with the soldering iron, now it's all good.

More examples of cheap tat. I am using a nos switch which did have the flash function before I started fiddling with it. My best is it is one of the green power feeds that is not making contact in one of the increasingly knackered connecting plugs.

As I said above, the power to the flash switch is purple (fused permanent live) lead into the dipswitch plug. It will probably be a medium fat wire going in with a smaller one going back out to another plug pin. one is for horn and the other for flash. if you look at the switch side of the plug, you will notice that one of the purple wires goes to a black wire on the switch side, this is the horn connection. Do not confuse with the purple/black wire also present in this plug, that's the lead out to the horn(s) themselves.

Fixed it, well kind of. The problem was a duff relay, which I found because of a battery drain. The relay was drawing an amp, even when the lights weren't on. So the headlight flash and everything else now works. I also soldered as many of the joins as possible, to eliminate faults caused by crimp on connections. Sadly the main beam indicator on dash no longer works, hoping it is a blown bulb.
