Dashboard Wood and Door Cappings: UK VS Australian

#1 Post by JPSPRINT »

G'day all. Could you please advise if there was any significant difference between the wood used in the UK and those in Australia ?

Mine have seen better days and I see clean ones for sale in the UK a fair bit (ours are often dried out!) and I'm wondering if I'd notice any difference at all by putting UK ones in ? I guess just working out my options. Any answers of what wood and veneer was used in the UK and Australia would be a big help.

Thanks !

I just got mine re-veneered, gave them the glove box to match them too - any companies close to you that could do this?

Thanks for the reply. I'll likely have to hunt a company down (and will share company details of course!)

Those re-veneers can really look incredible, would really love to see pictures of your dashboard mate ! :-))

I think the wood used was something Triumph truly got right..

Check out my thread mate, there's a photo of the completed door cappings there, the photo doesn't do them justice as they're exceptionally well done and match the glove box door perfectly, that was sent to get a perfect match, which they did - the light from the camera casts a shadow over the glove box and gives the impression it's different, but it's not.

I've a lot to update on it.

Superb thread (and car) mate..

As you promised, that wood is stunning !

Will you be using the same bezels, vinyl dashboard and the like ? I can't believe how incredible that wood looks..
