New boy

#1 Post by shyboy »

Hello everybody. I' m back into Triumph ownership after a break of 31 years. During the 70's and 80's I owned 1300 fwd, 1300TC fwd, 2x 1500 fwd and a Dolomite 1850. All succumbed to the tin worm. I have now got a 1972 1500fwd - well I've still got a load of spares to use! It came with an MOT but I don't know how it passed. So far I've replaced top and bottom front ball joints, lower steering coupling, driveshaft couplings, two sealed beams, front upper arm bushes, front shock absorber lower bushes - what a b------ job they were! Gear lever bushes. Rear shock absorbers are leaking. Scraped the underseal off the rear arches and luckily only surface rust. Brake pipes need replacing but the pads and shoes were new. Exhaust is rather holey. Apart from all that I'm having fun doing all these jobs. I've only driven it 10 yards from the transporter to my garage. Hopefully I'll drive it on the road in about a week's time.
Forgot to mention that I became a member as soon as I bought the car.

i've moved the thread here as it looks like it is an introduction thread and NOT the documention of a restoration/rebuild.

Welcome to the forum. Hope you can get it back on the road where it belongs.
