Has anyone made any headway in finding/remanufacturing these seals? I suspect everyone needs them and it would be good to know what they could be made up for.

We have found a potential supplier but we are considering the economics of remanufacture due to the sums of money involved as well as the logistics.

Get refundable deposits in for all of those people interested in a set, if there is not enough to fund manufacturer then refund the cash and walk away knowing that at least the club tried?

Are the rubber seals the same profile as the triumph 2000 range,just wondering if the triumph 2000 could be cut and reglued together to suit the dolomite

Chris Witor has remanufactured the T2000 quarterlight seal, why not buy one and try it?

Seriously, something needs doing about this, If I had a few grand floating about, i'd give it a go (or comission CW to) The T2000 seal is pretty similar in shape to the Dolly one, just a tad bigger I think!

Not to be the bearer of more bad news, but I reckon only about 1 in every 4 frames I pull out of cars is re-usable once rust and siezed bits are TIC. Not to mention the plastic bush at the bottom hinge which is almost always cracked or broken, but I would imagine is pretty easy to remanufacture and may even be the same as the T2000 one. ( A perfect candidate for 3D printing if ever there was one)

I'd not until recently considered the quarterlight to be a problem area, I took both out of the Carledo when I repainted and rebuilt the body in 2012 and both were in good shape and functional. So when I was offered a NOS offside unit for pennies, I almost turned it down, only my inherent inablity to refuse a bargain made me buy it! Boy am I glad I did now! BOTH frames on my Sprint were beyond retrieving and between the other 6 I had in stock (all still in doors) I managed to scrape up one barely usable N/S one for my Sprint and one acceptable O/S one for the white auto Sprint that Alun and I are doing. All the rest were bin fodder for one reason or another! They are also a very real pain to dismantle to change the seals if you need to keep all the bits intact! Out of all the 4 scrapped, I did manage to salvage 1 O/S seal in fair condition, all the others were toast!

I have to agree with the comments on the quarter light seals. Surely there is enough interest for the club to do something?
But the front is difficult to change unless we can also arrange an alternative to the rivet which has to be removed to fit the seal. I did change mine years ago when a good friend made suitable rivets for me on his lathe.

Time to get them into mass production Paul! When the seals hit the market, everyone who buys a seal is gonna notice their plastic bush is broken, want a new one and there you'll be with the product! This time next year Wodney...........

As Murdo pointed out to me (I hadn't noticed) there IS another way besides cutting out that that large and unique external rivet. The little bracket that attaches it to the frame is held on with 2 smaller and more conventional (and invisible externally) rivets. Not easy exactly, but much easyER!
