To repair the shell of my front drivers door I have had to take off the channel the doorseal fits in. It had rotten in the seam between the shell and the metal channel. I had repaired it with repair sections someone cut from a donor door.
At some point I need to refit the channel. Firstly I wanted to check if I can buy more of this, as it would be easier than piecing together a complete channel from the repair panels and what remains of the original channel (part of it had rotted).
I also wonder if anyone had ideas how to reattach it? Originally it was spot welded, so I could plug weld it but I am worried about destroyed the thin metal of the channel. Could I secure it with pop rivets?

Hmm......
Pop rivets will work but Tiger Seal is what I would try.

I have been looking into this, as i may need some in the near future as the bottoms of my drivers side doors are in a bad way.
I found this post on a search and thought it would be best to add to this rather than a new post.
I have contacted Geoff at Wins to confirm that the channel used on the Rover P6 is the same profile and, he says it is.
I comes in 24" lengths so not sure how easy it would be to bend if needed.
I havent got any yet, but thought i would post this now as there may be people working on their cars over winter with this issue.

Having had the same experience then using a scrap door for some lengths of channel tiger seal is the way to go. Doesn’t matter if you cannot get all the contours as long as you have support where it matters. Also your not introducing potential new rust areas.
